About Me
I earned my private pilot license in 2005, and briefly considered buying an old Mooney 201 before discovering the Experimental-Amateur Built (EAB) category, and the Glasair in particular. I did a demo flight in a Glasair 1RG and was instantly hooked. The mix of speed, agility, and efficiency of the Glasair is hard to beat. I bought a 160HP 1RG, nicknamed "Slick" and flew it all over the United States, Canada, and the Bahamas, for over 1400 hours. Slick carried me through Instrument and Commercial Pilot ratings as well.
In 2020, I found a bright yellow Glasair III with a custom built high-comp IO-540X engine, complete with inverted fuel and oil systems, built by an old aerobatic pilot who was unable to fly it any more. I named this Glasair "Chiquita" and did a complete panel rehab, including Dynon HDX displays and Garmin GTN-650 IFR navigator, turning it into a capable cross country traveler. I earned my CFI rating in this airplane, with the intention of sharing my experience with new Glasair owners and help make them safe, proficient pilots of their new aircraft. I now have over 1500 hours in-type. I am based in the Mid Atlantic region and am available to travel anywhere to offer Glasair instruction and ferry flying.
